Packed arts programme in Birr theatre
An exciting new season of music, drama and children’s entertainment has kicked off at Birr Theatre & Arts Centre.
Homegrown talent comes in the form of Irish country music singer Derek Ryan who will be performing a special unplugged session on Thursday, November 29. Rounding out the year is local musician Deborah McKeown who will launch her EP ‘Hold On To It’ on Friday, December 7.
Acclaimed play 'The Matchmaker' by John B Keane returns to Birr on Saturday, November 24 starring John Kenna and Mary McEvoy.
For comedy fans, 'Weighing' In starring Rose Henderson is the perfect girl’s night out. Set in the Easi-Slim Club this play is all about life, love and dieting – and how we all need to adjust the scales to find the right balance. The topical play dealing with the modern obsession with dieting takes place on Saturday, December 8.
Join us this festive season for Christmas Classics, a lunchtime concert of classic and seasonal music, early booking is advised for this afternoon of songs and carols on Friday, December 21. For the little ones enjoy Elfie Saves Christmas from Talisman Theatre Company, join in the fun and help Elfie save the day on Saturday 22nd December.
In early January, renowned musician Sharon Shannon takes to the stage with songs from her new album ,Sacred Earth,. Touring around the world, Sharon incorporates traditional Irish music but also, for the first time, African rhythms with her latest release.
