Betty loses eight stone and gets her life back

An Edenderry grandmother has been nominated for the Unislimmer of the Year Award after losing eight stone.

Betty Feely (64), who will be up against 13 other finalists for the coveted title, decided to do something about her weight after she started to struggle keeping up with her grandchildren. Today, she feels fitter than ever and has a whole new outlook on life, a new wardrobe, and a healthier heart.

“I’ve four grandchildren and look after them every day. I knew if I wanted to be around to see them grow up, that I needed to address my weight and health issues, as I’ve lost three of my brothers to heart attacks at a young age.

“When I joined my local Unislim class in Edenderry, that was the start of my journey – I went with the outlook that I wanted to make a lifestyle change and keep the weight off for good!

“When I started I could barely walk 200 metres without being out of breath – today I walk at least 5km and weigh 10st 9lbs which is something I thought I’d never be able to say,” she said.

“My daughters also treated me to a holiday to Turkey recently to celebrate my weight loss and I was thrilled to finally feel confident enough to walk on a beach. I love the new me and will never go back,” Betty recalled.

Praising Betty and her fellow finalists, Fiona Gratzer, managing Director of Unislim, says the her firm is looking forward to celebrating its most inspiring members.

“Every one of our finalists has completely transformed their lives through our healthy eating plan. They are so happy and confident with their new found lives.”
