Tullamore Hospital overcrowding continues
Tullamore Hospital is the most overcrowded hospital in the country again today.
Trolley and ward watch figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation(INMO) recorded 37 people on trolleys, chairs or additional beds in the hospital this morning.
The INMO figures put overcrowding at the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore ahead of South Tipperary General on 30 and Dublin’s Mater Hospital on 25.
Launched in April 2013, the trolley and ward watch figures are a count of the number of additional patients on beds, trolleys or chairs, on inpatient wards/units above the stated complement of that ward/unit and provides a picture of whole hospital overcrowding.
Tullamore was the most overcrowded hospital in the country last Tuesday and again on Friday with the highest number of people on the INMO’s trolley and ward watch list.
Last Friday a HSE spokeswoman said the Escalation Policy would “remain in place over the weekend and will be reviewed on Monday.” The HSE is asking people to consider visiting their GP or Midoc service before attending at the hospital.
