Rural TDs asked to include wind farms in government formation talks
Wind Aware Ireland is calling on rural TDs to insist on a moratorium on wind farm construction as part of the negotiations to form a government.
Wind Aware Ireland said “forcing industrial wind farms on rural communities who do not want them must stop. Wind farms are being resisted fiercely by these communities who are under enormous stress and financial strain to defend what our public representatives should defend - our precious landscape, homes and environment.”
The group questioned the previous governments’ renewable energy policies and called for the introduction of sustainable biomass at Moneypoint power station.
Wind Aware Ireland said “rural TDs currently in negotiations on the formation of government must make a moratorium on wind farms a central plank of their talks. Failure to do so will not be forgotten by rural voters.”
