Tullamore's Daniel a category winner at Young Scientists
There was a local category winner at the BT Young Scientists exhibition at the weekend.
Daniel Carroll, representing Colaiste Choilm in Tullamore, took first place in the Biological and Ecological (intermediate individual) section with his project: 'Courses for horses: Feeding performance horses as nature intended'
Daniel also took home a special award from the Veterinary Council of Ireland for his project.
Three other Offaly projects were highly commended.
Ciaran O hAolain of Colaiste Choilm received the commendation for his entry, 'Carefriend – Smart Alzheimer's and Dementia Care Unit', in the technology senior individual category.
There was also a highly commended recognition for Katie Rabbitte and Annie Browne of Tullamore College for their project entitled 'Protection or Infection' in the technology senior group category.
And Annie Nichol, Laoise Murray and Jessica Fitzgerald of St Brendan's Community School in Birr, were highly commended for their entry in the technology intermediate group category 'Outdoor RetroReflective Christmas decorations'
