According to a new EPA report on 'air emissions’ in 2014, the Rosderra Irish Meats Group’s Edenderry facility was the subject of 23 complaints relating to noise – the third highest in the country, and two complaints relating to odour.
In 2013, the agency received three complaints regarding noise and two regarding odour at the factory, which is both a slaughtering and processing facility.
In 2012, the agency received no complaints relating to noise four complaints regarding odours.
In a statement issued to the Offaly Independent, the EPA said that it has “ has acted on all complaints received in relation to this licence and has active compliance investigation file in relation to concerns regarding noise nuisance. No non-compliances with licence conditions have been identified in relation to noise however this file remains open.
“A non-compliance has been logged against the licence in 2015 in relation to off-site odour nuisance.
“We would encourage the public to continue to report environmental problems so that they can be resolved speedily.”
The Offaly Independent contacted Rosderra Irish Meats Group on a number of occasions for a comment on the report, but have not received one.
