Met eireann rain warning in place

Met Eireann has issued a rainfall warning across Ireland with up to 35mm of rain expected to fall.

The status yellow warning was issued on Saturday night when the forecaster warned that between 25 and 35mm of rain was expected.

Met Eireann stated: 'A spell of heavy rain will move northeastwards across Ireland on Saturday night, clearing in most areas on Sunday morning or early afternoon, but continuing for much of the day in the north.'

The warning remains in place this afternoon.
