Woman arrested as cannabis valued at 180000 seized

Cannabis worth €180,000 was seized in a joint operation between Customs and Gardai in Portarlington this morning.

Gardai also arrested a 37-year-old woman during a search of a house in the town. The drugs had originated in Nigeria.   

The seizure followed an intelligence led operation between Revenue's Customs Service and An Garda Siochana, focusing on the sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Midlands.  

Approximately 9kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of €180,000 was seized.

Investigations are ongoing and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
