Digital art event at charleville castle proves very popular
About seven times the number of people Noel Joyce expected turned up at what turned out to be a wildly popular digital art event at Charleville Castle in Tullamore last night (Tuesday).
Charleville Castle was “digitally painted” on the night, thanks to a novel initiative by Noel’s Tullamore-based company Applydea, which makes the Maglus magnetic stylus for iPad.
Some 150 children and adults attended to see the artwork of German artist and Maglus user Benjamin Rabe, and some created by local school children in a workshop that took place in Robbins earlier that day, projected onto the castle’s walls.
Speaking after the event Noel said it’s motivated him to arrange something even bigger and better next year.
“We want to thank everyone who made the effort to come out to the castle,” Noel told the Offaly Independent.
“We were overwhelmed with the local community coming to see the event and we wish we had more prepared for everyone. We look forward to doing more next year and making this event something bigger.”
The digital art show lasted approximately one hour, after getting going at about 7.30pm. Noel said he’s now going to work on plans for more digital art workshops for children ahead of a bigger and better showing at the same venue in 2015.
