Two offaly schools in the running for fs film awards
Two Offaly schools are up for awards at the FIS Film Festival, a Department of Education initiative that’s scheduled for The Helix in DCU on November 4 next.
Ballinamere NS is nominated for an award for its film ‘Be Careful What You Wish For’ along with 23 other schools chosen from an entry list of more than 100.
Meanwhile Clonlisk NS in Shinrone is to be honoured with a highly commended award along with twelve other schools.
This year the FIS Film Festival is celebrating its tenth year. A total of 24 awards will be handed out at the festival, which will be hosted by RTE’s Sinead Kennedy and Eoghan McDermott and is expected to attract an audience of more than 800.
To enter the competition primary schools across the country were asked to devise a five minute film on a subject of their choice. The film had to be produced by the children and their teachers, and entries were judged on imagination and creativity, the originality of the story, excellence in set design, costume design, film direction and production as well as the use of sound, acting and cinematography.
Awards will be made on November 4 in a variety of categories including comedy, acting, storytelling, adaptation, animation, special effects, direction, costume, editing, production, cinematography, sound, public safety, best newcomer, best junior class production and historical adaptation.
