No overcrowding at Tullamore hospital today
There are no patients on trolleys in the emergency department of the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore today, nor are there any extra patients on beds, trolleys or chairs in its inpatient wards.
The hospital’s impressive figures were released earlier as part of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) daily Trolley and Ward Watch report.
The INMO Trolley Watch report began in 2004, and details the number of people on trolleys in emergency departments around the state.
Ward Watch, which counts the number of patients on beds, trolleys or chairs on inpatient wards or units above the stated complement of that ward or unit, was launched in April 2013.
Joining Tullamore hospital with no overcrowding today is the Midland Regional Hospital in Portlaoise.
However the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar has the worst overcrowding of all hospitals today, with 19 on trolleys in its emergency department and ten more in wards.
Nationwide 188 people were recorded today as being on trolleys in emergency departments, with a further 33 recorded as being on beds, trolleys or chairs in wards.
