Family fantasy tale 'Losha' comes to Birr Theatre
Losha is the name of the family fantasy tale that’s set for Birr Theatre and Arts Centre on Saturday, May 24.
Audience members on the day will enter the unforgettable world of Monkeyshine Theatre and meet Losha, a magical creature who likes to collect small, important things that have been forgotten.
She uncovers fragments of memories held in long discarded objects - a key holds the memory of a beautiful garden, a teddy bear holds a child’s fear of the dark, a grain of sand carries the freedom of midnight swim.
Using shadow play, puppetry and projection, Monkeyshine bring their enthralling brand of theatre to Birr for one show only.
Live theatre offers something different - the element of surprise, the sense that anything can happen and the knowledge that the audience is sharing something truly unique with the performer.
Losha is a perfect opportunity for families to share a really special experience and to see one of Ireland’s foremost theatre companies for young audiences.
Monkeyshine are internationally celebrated for their ingenious, beautiful and quirky style. They continually surprise and delight their audiences, young and old, revelling in the power of the imagination and pushing the boundaries of theatre.
Losha was developed as part of the Arts Council’s Theatre Maker In Residence Scheme 2011 with Roscommon Arts Centre and Roscommon County Council, under the mentorship of Theatre Charlot Lemoine of Vélo Theatre France.
The show is suitable for everyone over the age of five and will be at Birr Theatre and Arts Centre on May 24 at 2pm. Tickets are €8, while a family ticket covering one adult and two children is available for €22.
Tickets are available at www.birrtheatre.com or by calling the box office on 057 9122911.
