New initiative launched with special video message from Brendan Gleeson
The FilmOffaly vendor card was launched last night (Monday) in Offaly with a special video message from Brendan Gleeson.
In the video that runs to just over four minutes Brendan talks about his time filming in Offaly, and whether or not he’d return if work called for it in the future.
The vendor card launched last night makes a compelling case for how the arts can creatively contribute to economic growth. Unique in Ireland, it sees businesses offer discounts to production companies in order to attract them into the county to film.
Speaking at last night’s launch FilmOffaly chairperson Cllr Nichola Hogan said there are two aims at play.
“We firmly believe that we need to be innovative and creative in terms of promoting film into Offaly, but also to support indigenous filmmaking in the county and that is something we have seen a huge rise in recently,” she said.
Filmmakers and businesses interested in the new scheme can find out more at www.filmoffaly.ie. More information about FilmOffaly is also available by calling 057 9357400 or emailing filmoffaly@offalycoco.ie.
