Edenderry death probe now a murder enquiry
Gardai have formally launched a murder enquiry following a post mortem on the body of 64-year-old Offaly man Thomas (Toddy) Dooley.
His body was discovered at around 2.45pm yesterday when Gardai called to his house at Sr Senan Court, Edenderry.
Mr Dooley, who had sustained injuries to his upper body, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The house was then sealed off and the State Pathologist notified.
The State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy attended the scene today and carried out a post mortem at the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore.
A family liaison officer has been appointed and an incident room has been established at Tullamore Garda Station.
Gardai are now ppealing to anyone who may have spoken to or seen Mr. Dooley between 11am on Thursday, February 13, and 2.45pm on Sunday, February 16, to contact them. They are also appealing to anyone who witnessed any unusual or suspicious activity in the vicinity of Sr. Senan Court, Edenderry, in the same time frame to contact them.
