Birr man in serious condition after assault

Gardaí at Birr are investigating a serious assault which occurred at Main St, Birr at approximately 3pm this afternoon.

A male in his 50’s received serious head injuries as a result of an assault. He was air lifted to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin where his condition is described as serious.

A 17-year-old male was arrested in connection with this incident and is currently detained at Birr Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4, Criminal Justice Act – 1984.
