Calendar Girls ready for the stage
The dates may have changed but the show will go on. Curtain up is just days away now, and the cast of Calendar Girls are rehearsing every spare minute to ensure a fantastic performance.
Tullamore Amateur Dramatic Society (TADS) is nearly ready to stage Tim Firth’s Calendar Girls in the GAA Centre on the Arden Road in Tullamore.
Shows dates have been amended to February 4-9 inclusive due to circumstances beyond the group’s control.
Tickets for the show are priced €12 (€10 for OAPs and students), which includes a glass of wine, and souvenir calendars and programmes will be available for sale on show nights.
A generous cut of the proceeds from the production and the calendars will go to Dochas Offaly Cancer Support Group.
TADS has expressed thanks to the GAA Centre for facilitating the project. A number of local restaurants have also come on board with the play and will run pre-theatre specials during next week.
Captain House Restaurant on Main Street is offering a free glass of wine with every early bird menu when customers quote the password ‘calendar girls’ when ordering. BK2 on William Street will offer a daily special when the same password is quote. The Coffee Club on Harbour Street will also offer a daily special of soup, club sandwich and tea or coffee for €9.95 during show week.
