Ferbane road traffic fatality
Gardai are investigating a single vehicle road traffic accident near Ferbane on St Stephen's Day which claimed the life of a woman in her late 40s.
The woman was injured when her car left the Ballycumber Road (R436), two kilometres east of Ferbane at about 4pm on St Stephen's Day.
She was the sole occupant and no other vehicles were involved. She was pronounced dead at the scene and her body has been removed to The Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore.
This stretch of road was closed for some time to allow an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
