Ferbane GAA Club is Ulster Bank GAA Force Leinster winner

Ferbane GAA Club is the Leinster winner of the Ulster Bank GAA Force competition, it’s been revealed today (Friday).

As winner the club gets a support package worth €5,000 to refurbish and upgrade their facilities.

Other provincial winners of the competition included Dunmore MacHales in Galway, Croom in Limerick and Portaferry in Down.

The overall winner of the competition – Kiltubrid GAA Club in Leitrim – gets a €25,000 support package.

This year marks the third year of the Ulster Bank GAA Force, which is run as part of Ulster Bank’s sponsorship of the GAA Football All-Ireland Senior Championship. To date the initiative has attracted entries from almost 1,400 clubs, and provided over €150,000 worth of support to 315 clubs.

Speaking at today’s announcement secretary of Ferbane GAA Club Martina Flynn said the club is both delighted and overwhelmed.

“It will allow us to focus on improving the club and make it something the whole community can be proud of,” she explained.

“We are extremely grateful to Ulster Bank for their support and we look forward to this exciting opportunity for all our members and supporters.

With the €5,000 funding announced today Ferbane GAA Club intends to give dressing rooms, grounds and the club’s forecourt area a facelift, with work to include power cleaning, painting and general maintenance and repairs. The money will also help with the provision of a catering facility at the grounds.

Speaking today branch manager at Ulster Bank in Ferbane Naomi Masterson said this year’s competition was another good one.

“It was great to see another successful year for Ulster Bank GAA Force, with over 430 clubs entering the initiative,” she said.

“I am delighted that Ferbane GAA Club has been named as the Leinster Ulster Bank GAA Force winner and I wish them every success in the future.”
