Turbine meeting nets 16 volunteers
Sixteen people have signed up as volunteers with Rhode Wind Turbine Action Group after a residents’ meeting last Tuesday according to Joanne Addie.
Last week’s meeting focussing on a proposal for 32 wind turbines in the area took place in Rhode Community Centre and was attended by some 80 locals, including councillors Noel Bourke, John Foley and Liam Quinn and Sinn Fein representative Martin O’Reilly.
Ms Addie said Green Wind director Don Curtin had been invited to attend the meeting and answer questions, but declined.
She said support is appreciated locally from local representatives, and thanked locals for attending in addition.
'We suggest that everyone do their own research to find out more information about industrial wind turbines,” she added.
A wind information meeting will take place in the Bridge House Hotel on Thursday next at 8pm. A peaceful public protest is planned for St Paul’s Church in Mullingar next Saturday from 2pm.
