Court closure announcement tomorrow

An announcement regarding the proposed closure of courts in both Edenderry and Birr is expected tomorrow (Wednesday).

A recommendation to close both courthouses was to come before a meeting of the Courts Service Board last Thursday, however that meeting was postponed to this week.

The building committee of the Courts Service agreed closure as the preferred course of action for both courts at a meeting on May 16 last.

The proposed closure has been met with disappointment and anger in both Offaly towns.
