Runner Friday sees the premiere of local man Paddy Slattery's latest offering "Runner". "Runner" is a paranormal drama, in which a young successful man tragically kills a girl in a hit and run accident and foolishly attempts to carry on with his life as though nothing has happened. This proves impossible when he's haunted by a mysterious female presence and eventually his life spirals out of reality and into a surrealistic nightmare. Following the screening a short documentary on the making of the film will be shown, and a question and answer session with selected crew and cast will take place. There is no charge for this premiere, and all are welcome. The Showcase A fantastic night of musical entertainment is in store on Saturday, January 19 when songwriters and performers of the midlands take to the stage in "The Showcase". This diverse evening will span the genres of folk, rock, indie and pop and should cater for even the most selective palette. Acts on the night will include Eoin Martin, Jamie Moten, Niamh Kenny, Dave McArdle, Gavin Ghee and Lyndon. Dark Horse Birr Film Club presents "Dark Horse" on January 22. Tickets for the 8pm screening are available for €7, €5 and €3. New and non-members are welcome. Aladdin Midland Drama Schools present Aladdin on January 25 and 26. The spectacular production features amazing costumes, colourful scenes, modern songs and stunning choreography and is an unmissable pantomime experience for all the family. Travels with my Cello: An Evening with Julian Lloyd Webber Green Light Management Ltd presents an evening with Julian Lloyd Webber on February 5. This is a unique opportunity to spend time in the company of one of the world's most renowned musicians. Booking early is recommended to avoid disappointment.
