Offaly eager for Obama visit
The prospect of US President Barack Obama visiting Offaly has increased this week, after the new US Ambassador said Obama 'definitely' plans on travelling to Ireland. Obama"s great-great-great grandfather, Fulmuth Kearney, hails from Moneygall and Taoiseach Brian Cowen formally invited the President to both Ireland and Offaly during a St Patrick"s Day meeting earlier this year. U.S. Ambassador to Ireland Dan Rooney, speaking at a press conference, after presenting his credentials in Dublin last Friday, said: 'Well I know that he wants to come ... When things settle down, he definitely would plan it.'
