Good performances at National Road Relays
Three teams travelled to Raheny last Sunday to compete in the National Road Relays. This is a hugely competitive event which attracts top teams from all over the country. The Mens over 50 team were the most successful on the day when they claimed second place. Johnny Feery ran the first leg of one mile and ran very well to hand over to Martin Carroll in third position. Martin ran a great two mile leg to give the Harriers a lead going into the last one mile leg. John Todd was our athlete on the final leg and was passed by a Tallaght runner but battled on bravely to secure second place for Tullamore. The senior womens team of Liz Cuskelly, Pauline Curley and Rose Marie Masterson ran well to finish in seventh place in a highy competitive race in which Dundrum South Dublin broke the course record. The Master Mens team were also up against a top class field but here Tullamore"s Mick Murphy who ran the first one mile leg threw down the gauntlet to all the other more fancied runners and led most of the way only to be passed near the finish to hand over to Adrian Curley in third place. Adrian ran a steady two mile leg as did Jody O"Reilly in his mile leg and here Tullamore finished in sixth position.
