Sinn Féin announces selection of Edenderry candidate
Sinn Féin has announced that it is running a candidate in the Edenderry Electoral Area in the upcoming elections. Selected at a recent convention, Mr Martin O"Reilly will be running for both Town and County Council in the Edenderry electoral area. Martin O"Reilly is a first time candidate and is 22 years of age and from Daingean, Co Offaly. He first joined Sinn Féin two years ago and is secretary of the local cumman. Commenting on his selection to run for Sinn Fein Mr O"Reilly said: 'I am delighted to run as a candidate for Sinn Féin, I feel that our party has a lot to offer the people of North Offaly. There are a lot of issues in North Offaly which need some serious attention such as the provision of an ambulance bay for Edenderry, the lack of progress in the demolition of the unoccupied apartments in Churchview Heights, unemployment in the area, care for the elderly issues, and the lack of investment in infrastructure such as, lighting, footpaths, pedestrian crossings in areas like Daingean, Rhode.' He added that these were just some of the issues that he would be campaigning on. 'We will be running a positive campaign to give the people of North Offaly a choice for change. I look forward to meeting the people at the doors over the coming weeks,' said Mr O"Reilly.
