Iarnród Éireann continues €10 day-return deal

Iarnród Éireann has announced that its special discounted €10 adult day return fare (€5 child return) to and from Dublin has been extended until 31st May. The €10 day return fare, which takes in the Tullamore route, means that those travelling from Athlone after 9am will continue to enjoy a 47% saving on train fares to and from Dublin (the regular ticket is priced at €19). Up to 50,000 shoppers, families and other rail customers availed of this special promotional fare since its introduction before Christmas when it was first introduced and the popularity of the discount has remained since. As a result, the company is to extend the promotion, with the €10 return fare (€5 for children) represents major savings of up to 57% on normal day return fares. This special fare is only available from train station ticket offices on day of travel. As well as Tullamore, routes to and from from Athlone, Clara, Portarlington, Portlaoise, Longford, Edgeworthstown, Mullingar, Dundalk, Gorey and Carlow also benefit for the discount.
