Thatch regulars look forward to Colin Devlin
There"s plenty of hype surrounding singer Colin Devlin and the release of his first solo album Democracy of One and music fans are definitely in for a treat this weekend when he plays The Thatch in Rahan this Saturday night (February 28). Democray of One is fans" reintroduction to an Irish songwriter who has crafted unforgettable soundscapes for over a decade. Colin is of course, from popular 90s duo The Devlins. Led by Colin Devlin and his brother Peter, The Devlins refined their cinematic rock sound via a series of internationally-acclaimed albums that generated tracks used in dozens of film and television productions. Now, singer Colin Devlin strikes out on his own with a warm, intimate album of personal reflections helmed by producer Pierre Marchand. While The Devlins" atmospheric grooves consistently transcended both genre and era, Democracy of One takes Colin Devlin"s reputation for erudite simplicity to another level. Devlin"s new songs explore the language of a seasoned songwriter both lyrically and sonically. Colin will be joined onstage by his good friend Fiachna O"Braonain (Hothouse Flowers) on guitar and atmospherics and the special guest on the night will be the wonderful Canadian songstress Emm Gryner. Tickets are €12 and are available from www.tickets.ie/thethatch and on the door. More info available from myspace.com/thethatchrahan
