Colin Devlin: waiting for his Rahan gig
The Thatch in Rahan has scored yet another big name in the world of Irish singer-songwriters. Colin Devlin will play an intimate gig as part of his acoustic tour on Saturday, February 28, and will be showcasing songs from his soon to be released solo album "Democracy of One". Over the last two decades Colin and his brother Peter achieved immense success with The Devlins. With a series of internationally acclaimed albums, the brothers have toured the world but now it"s time for Colin to strike out on his own. Produced at Pierre Marchand"s Monetral studio, Democracy of One, gently mingles Devlin"s unmistakable voice with guitar, piano, strings and lush arrangements. The album, which includes tracks "Raise the Dead" and "What Good is Love" takes Colin"s reputation for erudite simplicity to another level. Working primarily as an all star trio set up with rock drummer Matt Chamberlain and pianist producer Marchand, Devlin expands on his previous work with Marchand by integrating live piano into most of "Democracy of One". 2009 is shaping up to be a busy year for Devlin, who is currently touring North America. If his first solo effort is indicative of Colin Devlin"s current musical stature, there is no question that his live gigs are not to be missed.
