Major apartment and commercial project planned for Charleville Road

After granting permission to two large retail and commercial developments within the town, Tullamore Town Council now have to consider a third at Kilcruttin. A Maynooth-based company is applying for planning permission on a site known as Cooley Brewery which consists of a bond warehouse, on almost six acres at Charleville Road, Kilcruttin. The development will consist of the demolition of all existing buildings and structures. Bond Distillery Development Ltd wants to build a large residential development, which will include some retail and office units as well as a medical centre, pharmacy, café, créche and civic space. The total development is made up of 295 residential units, divided into four blocks. There would be 42 one-bed apartments, 124 two-bed apartments, 20 three-bed apartments as well as one two-bed penthouse, 11 three-bed penthouse apartments and 97 two-bed duplex units. All the apartments would come with private terraces or balconies. Block A would contain 99 apartments, one office unit and a crèche of 453.5 sq m. Block B would contain 75 residential units, three office units and one retail unit, 172.7 sq m in size. Block C would contain 57 residential units, one retail unit, the medical centre and the pharmacy. Block D would contain 64 residential units, four retail units and the café. The development also provides for internal roads and streets and hard and soft landscaping, signage and all associated site development and works. There will be 524 car parking spaces, most of which will be underground and a total of 53 cycle spaces. The development would be accessed from the existing vehicular access to the lands off Charleville Road, with a new pedestrian linkage. Associated site works and sewer works are also included in the application. The planning application may be inspected at Tullamore Town Council"s planning office. Bond Distillery Development was registered as a company in October, with an address in Maynooth, Co Kildare. It develops and sells real estate.
