2008 Patrick Fay Citizenship Awards presented to Eden volunteers
The 2008 Patrick Fay Citizenship Awards were presented by OAK Partnership to six volunteers and two local voluntary in the Marriott Johnstown House, Enfield, recently. The worthy recipients of the coveted individual awards for 2008 was Brigid Emerson for her work with Portarlington Community Development Association and Na Paisti Crèche Portarlington, the community group award was presented to Daingean Community Childcare and an award for voluntary work by a young person was awarded to John Slattery for his work with Clonbullogue Youth Club. On behalf of OAK Partnership Malachy Mangan stressed the important role that volunteers had played in the North Offaly/North West Kildare area during the period that OAK Partnership had been in place. He expressed the hope that the Patrick Fay Citizenship Awards would continue in Offaly and Kildare through the structures. Deputy Michael Fitzpatrick congratulated all of the winners and thanked OAK Partnership for their continuing support for volunteerism in the North West Kildare and North Offaly areas. In addition to the overall winners, presentations were also made to four nominees who were short listed as finalists for the awards. These presentations were made to Jim Dolan Ballinagar, Tessie Doyle Edenderry CDP, Morna Hosey Tir na Mona and Liam Hartford Robertstown Development Association.
